MINI GAN

Camp is such a blast
! In addition to the funnest huge group game of “pass the parcel and do the action” game with the whole TG, Movement with Heather, crayon shavings and iron melting shapes in Nature, Painted our paper mache masks in Art, Music with Evan & Jeff, Body Games with Judy, Kung Fu with Keynan, Sports with the coaches, Swimming & waterplay, we loved all of this week’s theme activities.  This week’s theme was Mom and Dad are Great with Elmo. We spent the week doing fun activities that had to do with Mom and Dad. On Monday we had a Parents obstacle course based on the poem " If you Give your Mom a Muffin". Mini Gan friends got to feel like a mom when they hurried through the obstacle course and threw the laundry into the wash, made dinner, changed the baby's diaper etc.... all in twenty seconds:). We made Muffins for our moms & bubbys and decorated a bag with the "If you Give your Mom a Muffin" poem. We made beautiful necklaces and used beads to write our names. On Tuesday we did do much stuff: we made cookies and used cookie cutter shapes, and In addition to our regular Tuesday specialists we had Ariel, who did fun dancing with us and Heather who played some great team building games. At the end of the day, the entire Mini Gan watched an awesome Mad Science Show. On Wednesday Transitional Gan had a fantastic time splashing in the beaches at Castle Island. Mini Gan had fun making frames for their parents:) Thursday began with a great start, our favorite guys came to camp! Each bunk enjoyed doing the activities they planned which included cement and wood working crafts, baking and cooking, dr experiments and crafts and some awesome sports games, where the fav guys played vs the bunk:) We all said good bye to our favorite guys and continued with all our CGI fun. We couldn't help but laugh at all funny and exciting stories being told by story teller, Big Joe. We played Mother May I Cross the Golden Bridge and decorated special door hangers for our parents. We ended of all the excitement with a great mock wedding! All the bunks got dressed up. We watched the pretend- dressed up bride and groom go under the “chuppah” (wedding canopy), made of butcher paper and we all cheered Mazal Tov as the groom broke the cup and ended up in a big circle, dancing and singing. At last the meal was served by our waiters. We couldn't be happier when the first course was ice cream:) On Friday we made Challah and had a great time at the Shabbat party. Wow, this week was absolutely awesome:)

We cant wait to see you all on Monday!

Shabbat Shalom,
Mushky Lowenthal

EXPLORERS, TRAIL BLAZER GIRLS AND PIONEERS GIRLS

WHO HAD A GOOD WEEK? I DID, I DID!

Camp Gan Izzy, what a great week we just had! Playing the game of Twister, we learned all about maintaining our spiritual health and taking responsibility. Starting Monday, we already had a spectacular time learning about our Torah. We even made our very own ICE CREAM from scratch to commemorate the holiday of Shavuot when the Torah was given and traditionally we eat dairy! Tuesday we had a marvelous MAD SCIENCE SHOW with our mad scientist, Tungsten Ted. If that wasn't fun enough, on Wednesday we had a wet and wild day at WATER WIZZ WATERPARK riding all kinds of cool water slides, floating through a lazy river, and jumping colossal waves in the wave pool beach. Thursday made it's way and my, what a great time we had! Making slime, baking cherry cake pops, and playing a grand game of Twister, we had a blast! Not to mention all the dance, science experiments, sports with the coaches, Krav Maga, Bookmarks in art, iron shavings in nature, drama, and swimming we've had all week! Friday came around and the week ended off with a wonderful watermelon scavenger hunt. I sure had a good week!

TRAIL BLAZER AND PIONEER BOYS
This week was crazy! It was so hot that I'm shivering. Do you think the sun is getting closer to planet earth, and soon we'll be able to light the Shabbat candles just by breathing? Hot stuff. The counselors got lost in camp and we had to find them. You would get a stripe of face paint when you found them. I almost got all of them, but could not for the life of mine figure out where the red one was. Water races were cool (especially the frozen t-shirt). My favorite was trying to balance a cup of water on a fly swatter while walking across the field. We heard all these interesting stories about The Holy Temple and it's destruction (like the party where Mr. Wealthy Man thought he invited his best friend, but my mistake invited his worst enemy - yikes). We had this awesome Mad Science show. Balls floating in mid-air, water changing colors, vacuuming eggs and much more. Not sure why they call it mad science, he didn't even raise his voice. Well, if we are going to have an outdoor trip in 95 degree weather, at least it's to a water park! A friendly pool that kept on waving, a lazy river (that's not fair - it's the people in the river that are being lazy. The river is just doing it's job...), all types of slides - I almost went on that black one where you drop at an 80 degree angle, accelerating to speeds only spaceships have achieved, subjecting oneself to g-forces that are at the limit of human tolerance - but, at the last minute I decided that it would be ethically wrong to show off. Nothing at all to do with my shaking legs (I said I was shivering), and sweat pouring down my face (I told you it was hot). We enjoyed getting back to our awesome pool on Thursday. We then produced some serious commercials which we presented in front of a panel of judges who gave us our scores. There was one about toothpaste - I agree, very important. I loved the one about cheerios, no, wait - It's baseball caps. Or maybe it's a cheerios branded baseball cap, or a baseball shaped cheerio, or that they will now serve cheerios by all baseball games instead of hot dogs. Quick! Find that string, it's all over the place; on the grass, under 2nd base, on top of the goal post... Catch him - he has more string! The strings were tied together and had to stand up to a strength test. One team's string was so strong, that it stretched 2 1/2 feet before it broke! Alright, I think I need to go now - what time is it? Oh, I forgot to tell you, we made these totally awesome wooden Alef Bet clocks. Now, off to find a battery.

Shabbat Shalom!

Parshat Eikev

Moses tells the people of Israel how he implored G‑d to allow him to enter the Land of Israel, but G‑d refused, instructing him instead to ascend a mountain and see the Promised Land.

Continuing his “review of the Torah,” Moses describes the Exodus from Egypt and the Giving of the Torah, declaring them unprecedented events in human history. “Has there ever occurred this great thing, or has the likes of it ever been heard? Did ever a people hear the voice of G‑d speaking out of the midst of the fire . . . and live? . . . You were shown, to know, that the L‑rd is G‑d . . . there is none else beside Him.”

Moses predicts that in future generations the people will turn away from G‑d, worship idols, and be exiled from their land and scattered amongst the nations; but from there they will seek G‑d, and return to obey His commandments.

Our Parshah also includes a repetition of the Ten Commandments, and the verses of the Shema, which declare the fundamentals of the Jewish faith: the unity of G‑d (“Hear O Israel: the L‑rd our G‑d, the L‑rd is one”); the mitzvot to love G‑d, to study His Torah, and to bind “these words” as tefillin on our arms and heads, and inscribe them in the mezuzot affixed on the doorposts of our homes.

Tipping Recommendation
We are only able to deliver quality programming becauseof the high quality staff we hire. This year's counselors are
really phenomenal. They are enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to making your child's summer experience a memorable one. In addition to some local recruits, we also have a number of counselors from as far away as Florida, New York, Michigan, Minnesota, Atlanta & even Argentina & China. These young women and men an exceptional job, and your child has reaped the benefits of their hard work. To this end, it would be a welcomed gesture to show them your appreciation. Although not required, a suggested gratuity at the end of your child's session would be greatly appreciated. Please decide on an amount you would like to give per camper, and divide that out between all the counselors in the group.
