We also explored Friendship with Bert & Ernie through lots of fun and exciting activities.
On Monday we got to know our campgrounds through a bunk name scavenger hunt. we collaborated as a group to create beautiful circle and swirl murals.
On Tuesday we went on a paper clip hunt. We collected the paper clips and put them together to create unity chains.
On wednesday, the transitional gan had a super fun time jumping Jump On In
On Thursday, we got to watch a magician do tricks that we thought were really cool.Thursday was also country day and every bunk was assigned a differnt coutry. We had friends from Japan, China, Israel and Hawaii. Each bunk made up songs, dances and learnt words from their countries. Each country made their own food specialty and let all their friends enjoy the delicacies. Our friends from China offered rice that we ate with chop sticks! They also wrote silly fortunes for fortune cookies that made us all laugh:) Our friends from Japan gave out delicious candy sushi and our friends from Hawaii offered delicious mango smoothies! Each bunk put on a show at our country fair. The Hawaiians danced beautifully with their leis. Our friends from China sang a song with Chinese words and put chopsticks in their hair. Our friends from Israel taught us some Israeli dancing. Our friends from Japan showed us some karate.
On Friday we enjoyed a fun game of fruit basket that helped us get to know our friends even better. Transitional Gan made an adorable mail-a-hug project:) We all had fun playing with bubbles and creating our own bubble wands.

CGI is so much fun, we can't wait until next week!

Shabbat Shalom,

EXPLORERS, TRAIL BLAZER GIRLS, PIONEER GIRLS

Who would of thought we just completed our FIRST week of camp? Starting Monday we finally got to meet our counselors, campers, and instructors. We had a fun filled week with: Making Jackson Pollack Painting in Art, Creating our own watercolors in crafts, playing geeting to know you games in drama, sports with the coaches, baking colorful sugar cookies, learning cool Kung Fu moves, dancing & yoga, free swim & swimming instruction at Dedham Health, and that was just the beggining!!!

Focusing on the game "Guess Who", we leared a whole lot about our Jewish Identity. We had a Jewish Uniform Newspaper Fashion Show and celebrated our Jewish Birthdays with Birthday Day and cupcake decorating. Not to mention all the creative and cool hats we wore on Crazy Hat Day. The fun didn't stop there! On Wednesday we had a smashing time at Breezy Water park going down the terrific water slides and swimming in the lake! and on Thursday the TB & Pioneer Girls had an "older division" Magic Show with Magic Dave This week ended off with an chocolate Chip Challah Baking (from scratch) awesome Bean Hunt and Shabbat Party. Looking forward for even MORE fun next week!

Shabbat Shalom!

Looooove,

TRAIL BLAZER & PIONEER BOYS

What an awesome 1st week at Camp Gan Izzy! We have this awesome Mileage Program, where we are flying "Back to the Future" through Jewish History. Each destination we fly to earns us mileage - and a Gan Izzy stamp in our passports. I think I have 270 miles already! Sports has been fantastic, from Dr. Dodgeball to Pillow Polo Baseball to morning lineup races.

Specialists have been, well, special; Krav Maga self defense, Science where we were seeing rainbow prisms in bubbles, and cooking delicious treats.

Featured activities included: Balloonaram - not to be confused with baloonarama - involved secret teams (did team red win?), a rubber band structural engineering challenge, our very own CGI olympics, and my favorite, Whooshball. There's nothing like getting zapped by a double whoa'ed woosher. Boing! (Ask your son for details).

Breezy Water park was great, from lake to slides to frisbee to that portable arcade game that everyone seemed to do better at than me...

Magic Dave was super cool, with Hocus (the Bunny) reading our minds, lemons appearing out of nowhere, and some cool brainwave sharing techniques that we learned. Mom, watch out for when those cookies start disappearing - it's just an illusion!

Parshat Pinchas

Aaron’s grandson Pinchas is rewarded for his act of zealotry in killing the Simeonite prince Zimri and the Midianite princess who was his paramour: G‑d grants him a covenant of peace and the priesthood.

A census of the people counts 601,730 men between the ages of twenty and sixty. Moses is instructed on how the Land is to be divided by lottery among the tribes and families of Israel. The five daughters of Tzelafchad petition Moses that they be granted the portion of the land belonging to their father, who died without sons; G‑d accepts their claim and incorporates it into the Torah’s laws of inheritance.

Moses empowers Joshua to succeed him and lead the people into the Land of Israel.

The Parshah concludes with a detailed list of the daily offerings, and the additional offerings brought on Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh (first of the month), and the festivals of Passover, Shavuot, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Shemini Atzeret.
