From making new friends to finding out what you’re good at, from instilling Jewish pride to fostering a love for Israel, Camp Gan Israel at Chestnut Hill gives 2 to 13-year- olds a fun, well-rounded experience unlike any other. Your child will have the unforgettable opportunity to develop skills, try new things, overcome challenges and interact with warm loving counselors, new & old friends and highly trained specialists. Our Camp offers that and so much more with: a close counselor-to- camper ratio. Caring and experienced staff who love what they do. A diverse and well-balanced program and a safe and supportive environment where children discover new skills and create lasting friendships.

MINI GAN AND JUNIOR DIVISION

General Camp gives 2 to 8-year- olds a fun, well-rounded traditional camp experience unlike any other. Your child will have the unforgettable opportunity to develop skills, try new things, overcome challenges and interact within the safety of a small, supervised group of boys and girls who are the same age. Our General Camp offers that and so much more with: a close counselor-to- camper ratio within a small group structure. Caring and experienced staff who love what they do. A diverse and well-balanced program and a safe and supportive environment where children discover new skills and create lasting friendships.

SENIOR DIVISION

Recognizing that older elementary and middle school campers want more challenges, we are offering options only available to our campers entering 3 – 7 grade. Campers can choose to sign up for Sports Camp, Circus Camp, CGI Off-Broadway Camp, Creative Arts & Sports Camp and Trip & Adventure Camp. Camps run from one to two weeks and you can mix and match which camps you choose. Our senior division is designed to provide our oldest campers the freedom to select camps tailored to their current interests.

INCLUSION CAMP

Campers with mild to moderate disabilities will participate in an inclusive camp program  Pre-screening application & interview  CGI gives all children an opportunity to succeed and welcomes campers with special needs who can benefit from a total inclusion experience. We have great success with children with a wide range of developmental disabilities. Our goal is for these campers to succeed in our extraordinary and supportive world amongst typical campers- just as they will when they become adults.  Campers with Special Needs are placed in groups according to age and gender along with their typical peers. Groups are supervised by an adult Group Leader and 1 or 2 high school aged counselors. Many of our campers with special needs require additional one-on- one assistance. We refer to these additional helpers as Advocates. Camp families can secure advocates in the following ways:

  • Some school districts provide advocates if it is part of the student’s summer plan.
  • Some campers qualify for aid from state agencies which provides advocates.
  • For higher functioning children with special needs, we can help identify staff who we believe will make great advocates. Parents would pay the additional cost of the advocate through the camp.
  • Some parents hire their own advocates. Often times they find people who already work with their child during the year and are very familiar with their needs.
